July 14th “Bastille Day”

The holiday that changed fireworks forever. We had planned our honeymoon around this trip to Paris, but we had no idea the fireworks would be as incredible as they were. I feel like we had a front row seat from our boat docked along the harbour. The way the fireworks exploded in the sky and were shot off the Eiffel Tower was truly something spectacular. We had watched YouTube videos and TikTok’s but seeing it in person adds that extra bit of magic.

The day started with festivities bright and early to celebrate Bastille Day. We got to watch the parade down the Champs-Élysées. It was incredible to see the way that people came together for such a grand celebration. I think our favourite part was the air show, seeing the jets flying over your head. The colours of France lit up in the day light sky was truly a unique experience.

Make sure that you are ready to stand for a long period of time. It is a very long parade and air show and you will be on your feet for a long time. Later that day it was time for us to make our way to the water front so we could book our dinner cruise. Maybe we fell into the tourist trap, but we payed about 500 dollars for the experience. It was expensive but it was worth it! We had thought about sitting on the grass with the Eiffel Tower, but was to worried about the massive crowds and having to arrive so early as well as the lack of a washroom available.

With the dinner cruise, we had a three course meal and it was very delicious. We also got a bottle of champagne, we could order extra drinks as well and we both made sure to have a Coca Cola with ice to top it all off. We both made sure to dress up and have a nice outfit but still be casual and comfortable. That was most important. It really was an enjoyable experience having the sunset glowing on the water as we cruised through the different parts of Paris. It couldn’t have been more romantic and we enjoyed every bit of it. This was the perfect way to kick off the adventures on our honeymoon!
